About the Project

CREATING A HOUSING PLAN FOR PEOPLE WITH A LEARNING DISABILITY IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

The Learning Disability Partnership Board wants to:

help people with a learning disability, and their supporters, to create a Housing Plan for Northamptonshire and then make it happen.

Everyone will work together to make the housing plan.

This is called co-production

We want people to have the information they need to make choices and take control of where and how they live

We will help people who join in to think about:

What housing they would like

Where they would like to live

Who they want to live with

Look at different ways of living

Project Timescales

The project started in April 2010

We aim to have a Housing Plan by the end of October 2010.

When we finish the plan in October we will have a big meeting and tell everyone about the plan

We will decide how to make the plan happen

Everyone will have agreed to the plan

Everyone will know what they need to do to make the plan happen

How to Join in this Project

We need lots of people with a learning disability and their friends, family and other supporters to join us

Here are some ways you can join in:

Help plan the project and join the steering group

Help people to think about their housing desires

Help people explore different ways of living

Visit places and learn about where people live

Visit a district council housing office and learn about help with housing

Learn about and share people’s stories about living independently with support

Check that organisations are helping people with housing

Learn about starting groups to help people take control and choose how to live

Learn ways of being helped to live in the community

Find out what support, advice and help is available to help people live their ‘dreams’

But we can help you find out about the help you need and explore your choices
