Northamptonshire Learning Disability Partnership Board
The government wrote a paper called Valuing People
Valuing People said that partnership boards need to be set up
The Board helps people in Northamptonshire to live a better life
The board have paid for this project
The Board is expected to:-
Help people have better lives
Have a say about things locally that affect people with learning disabilities
The Board will:
Work to do all the things that Valuing People says.
The board will make plans and check that things are better.
Lots of different people are on the board
People with learning disabilities and their families also have their say
The board talks to other people who help people with learning disabilities
The board checks we spend money on the things valuing people says we should

The Finding a Place to Live Group
The ‘Finding a Place to Live Group’, is leading this project and is known as the project steering group. They are a ‘sub-group’ of Northamptonshire’s Learning Disability Partnership Board.
They help people with a Learning Disability in Northamptonshire to have the same housing choices as everyone else
They are responsible for delivering the housing aims of the Learning Disability Partnership Board

The first job this year is to create a housing plan
About 10 people are in the group
Some people in the group have a learning disability
The steering group makes decisions about helping people to make the plan.

Project Working Groups
People from the Steering Group will work on the plan and work together in groups with other people
The Project Working Groups will:
Help people think about how and where they would really like to live
Find out what housing is available
Find out who can help people to make their Housing dream a reality
Check that people have the help they need, and if not why not
Find out what is stopping people living where they want to
Share stories of people who are living independently
Help people be more involved in planning and getting the housing and support they want
